The Proteas played their second match of the Cricket World Cup against Bangladesh yesterday at the Oval in London. But, again they failed to secure a vital first win in the tournament and lost by 21 runs.
The South Africans won the toss and Du Plessis opted to field which turned out to be a detrimental decision for his team. The Bengal Tigers managed to secure 330 runs, their highest one-day international score yet. A huge target was set for the chase and the Proteas failed to catch up, dropping wickets early and stealing single runs when they could.
The SA team was already down key batsman Hashim Amla after he received a head injury on the first game and now bowler Lungi Ngidi has injured his hamstring which could rule him out for 10 days.
